PREPARING FOR SURGERY

The staff of the FCASC is pleased that you and your physician have selected our facility for your surgery or procedure. You are a valued guest and we will do everything we can to make sure your stay with us is as comfortable as possible.

Because we want all aspects of your surgery to go smoothly, please use this section for instructions on how to prepare for and what to expect after surgery.

Before My Surgery

Prior to your procedure, a Patient Representative will call you to gather your insurance information to expedite your admissions process. Our financial specialist will also call you ahead of time to give you an estimated patient financial responsibility. It is our policy to collect on your date of service. If you are not able to pay the full amount, we offer Care Credit as an alternative payment option.

Our Surgical Coordinator will also call you the day before your procedure to review special instructions and answer any questions. If for some reason you have not received a call, or have additional questions, please call us at 505.564.2300 between 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Also, although not typical, some patients may need a brief consultation to be cleared for anesthesia before surgery.

Day of Surgery

On the day of your surgery please bring your insurance ID and financial responsibility, as payment is due at the time of service. Remember to wear loose, casual, comfortable clothing to fit over any dressings that you may have after surgery. Please do not wear make-up, remove all nail polish, and do not wear jewelry (including body jewelry) to FCASC. Also, please be sure to leave all valuables at home. Children are welcome to bring stuffed animals for comfort and support during their procedure.

Please note that you may drive yourself to your surgery, but you will need a responsible adult driver to take you home and stay with you for 24 hours post-surgery. If you are having someone drive you to your surgery, your driver may leave a telephone number at the front desk before leaving and can stay within a 30-minute radius. If the patient is a minor, one guardian must remain at FCASC at all times.

Post-Surgery

Following surgery, there will be some time to recover before heading home. Before leaving, the physician will visit with you concerning your procedure and answer any immediate questions you may have. Follow up appointments will be held with your primary or referring physician, not FCASC.

Typically within one business day after your surgery, you will receive a follow-up call from FCASC to check on your recovery and to address any questions. If you have concerns before this time, call the main number at 505.564.2300. Please note, we do not have an answering service, so if it is an urgent question please call your doctor for assistance.
